Long Time Coming - Merry Christmas!!!

Sup?

MERRY CHRISTMAS!! And I wanna wish you all a very Happy New Year too from us at STT.

It's been a while since my last and a lot has happened since then. I had what seemed like an endless month of academic torture during which I barely kept track of the music scene. And after that I've just not gotten back into a routine.

I do however have a lot of good stuff to put up and a lot of people have been on my back to do a post so I decided to get on it and give you guys a Christmas and year ending gift.

I'm sure all of you'll have noticed the new look to the blog and I quite frankly do not really dig it. Its the new template and shit. Still working our way around it so be patient. We'll be rolling out the new much needed look soon enough.

Here goes with the music. I'm not saying much bout each track. You'll have to just trust me with them -

Open Your Eyes (Original Mix) - Alex Metric & Steve Agnello

Alive - Dirty South & Thomas Gold ft Kate Elsworth

To The Starz (Break The Noize & The Autobots Remix) - Modestep

I love this track Be There 4 You by Kyau & Albert. Above & Beyond took it one step ahead by mashing it with Daft Punk's One More Time. Check it out.

Tokyo - Gareth Emery

Megashira (Original Mix) - Marc Marberg, Kyau & Albert

You Got To Go (Kyau & Albert Remix) - Above & Beyond ft Zoe Johnston

Don't Give Up On Us - Avicii ft Yolanda Selini

Scary Monsters And Nice Sprites (Dualist Bootleg Remix) - Dualist Inquiry

This pretty much covers the electronic scene. On to the rnb and the rest.

Good Feelin' - Flo Rida
For those of you who dont like too much electro, this is Flo Ridas version of Levels. He pretty much just added his vocals to it.

The Fighter ft Ryan Tedder, Life Goes On ft Oh Land, Ass Back Home ft Neon Hitch - Gym Class Heroes

Take Care ft Rihanna, Make Me Proud ft Nicki Minaj - Drake
Actually just get Drakes album. Pretty good.

The Dewarists is a show started on Star World in India. Follows musicians collaborating. Every episode in the first season had a song they made. Some of my favourite are -

Sunburn Predictions

Hello peeps,

I'm Tanmay and I will be adding to this blog with my nom-de-plume, TJ. So watch out for me. I like dubstep and progressive house. Sorry, I'm awkward with introductions. So, time to roll.

It has effectively been around 315 days since Sunburn left us high and dry last year. We have all had our share of speculation as to who may come this year. So, unlike all you people who ran on idle speculation, we decided to scientifically increase our chances to get it right. We will show you how.

  • The Headliner should obviously be on the Top 10 list of any DJ Magazine (We assumed DJ Mag).
  • Guessing that Above & Beyond have already been signed up, this particular artist (the mysterious headliner) should feature above them in the rankings. Since it's Day 3 and all.
  • That just made our life easier: David Guetta, Armin van Buuren, Tiesto, Deadmau5. These are our prime candidates, anyone would agree to that, eh?
Here comes the fun part:
  • David Guetta will be performing in Guaruja, Brazil on the 29th of December, so it's safe to extinguish that bit.
  • Armin van Burren will be performing in Bangkok on the 11th of December and in Lebanon on the 30th. There is a massive chance that he may headline again. But, we still don't think that it will be him, obviously because Sunburn may look at someone new this year.
  • As for Tiesto, he's performing in Toronto on the 26th and Dallas on the 30th. So unless he wants to travel halfway around the world and back in such a short span of time, there is still half a chance.
  • Deadmau5. He's never come to India, let alone Sunburn. I, personally, have been dreaming of seeing him on stage and leaving possession of my worldly belongings soon after. But here's that glimmer of hope. He will be touring South Africa in the first week of December, then onto Abu Dhabi and then the UK till the second week. But here's that glimmer, there is a four day window between the 27th when he performs in Canada and 31st when he performs in New York. Now if, he can fly to India on the 28th and chill around and drink some Kings beer, he should be able to perform on the 29th. Same as Tiesto then.
Artists of Note:
  • Skrillex, Avicii, Swedish House Mafia both, have an empty slot during that time.

So our take (in order of possibility):
  1. Deadmau5, only because he's not come to India or Sunburn yet. Plus we love him.
  2. Tiesto, only because he hasn't come for Sunburn yet. And my, would he fit in!
  3. Armin van Buuren, since he happens to be touring our neighbouring countries at that time. But he's lower down the order since he's already performed here.
  4. Swedish House Mafia, big enough name now to perform as headliners.
  5. Skrillex, we were hoping we'd get Skrillex and Deadmau5 as part and parcel of Mau5trap Records on the "Ek pe ek free" offer going on right now, but anything can happen, since his slot is empty too. (NOTE: They usually roll together, plus they're both probably available. Als remember, that there isn't any noteworthy dubstep artist announced yet)
  6. Avicii has a similar Vancouver(26th)-New York(31st) situation, but if we can put our money on Deadmau5, we can put it on him too.
  7. David Guetta, not happening.

Future Podcasts And The Sunburn Lineup!

So we have always been thinking of breaking this blog out of the normalcy it has been going through. Hence the very drastic changes. It's still in beta testing mode. A lot of stuff is, actually. We're experimenting with many things with every spare minute we get - thus the staccato-like updates.
We're thinking of putting together a podcast every week. Sort of an amalgamation of all genres or just one. Millions of podcasts come out every week but it isn't always the perfect playlist. So we're going to try to get you the perfect playlist of the latest stuff that drops every week. That's in beta mode too - so bear with us. It'll be worth the wait. I promise :)

On another note, the Sunburn Day 1 & 2 lineup is out! The minute I saw Above & Beyond announced first, I knew these guys have something MAJORLY, MAJOR planned this year. You always save the best for last. And I'm pretty sure, Above & Beyond is not the only bunny in the magician's hat. Getting Above & Beyond is HUGE enough. Personally, I got a mini heart attack when I saw their name flash. The heart attack was followed by a huge inhale when I saw Pete Tong's name next. What exactly are they trying to do here, I wondered. Kill me in the first few seconds of the video? The gasps got louder as Gabriel & Dresden, Tocadisco & Jerome Isma-ae followed suit.

I started doing my dyslexic math. After much calculation, the monstrosity of 90 artists hit me. The magnitude of 7 stages hit me. It's going to be twice as large this year! And I just know that the Day 3 lineup is what they have reserved like nukes to blow us away. While Skazi and Laughing Buddha are great psy artists, they can't be the only ones that we're going to be screaming our lungs out for. I can feel it.

And hello, 90 artists without any Dubstep to the mix would hardly concoct the perfect Sunburn lineup. Surprises are coming our way and December seems to be getting closer!

CANNOT. WAIT.

What are your predictions for Day 3?

To be honest, my gut really says Deadmau5 with Skrillex in tow. Tiƫsto, even! I'm totally tripping on Maximal Crazy. I will die happy if I hear that live. Hey, you never know :).

Leave us a comment if you want to meet up this December!

P.S - We turn TWO today! Happy Birthday to us! For everyone that has been a part of our love for music, YOU ARE AWESOME!

Of Live Shows, Mad Music and Pigs

Yeah I got him to pose. (With a lil help from a friend)
Sup?

Last week we saw Ummet Ozcan live. And it was a mad time! He played a nice progressive set and for me, the highlight of his set was Reboot. That track totally made my night. xD

Here's a small souvenir of sorts -->

So its been a long time since I last posted. I've been meaning to post for a while now. I had decided that rather than making one huge post, Id do a series of smaller posts as and when I get good new stuff. But that never happened.

So yeah, heres another post with a bunch of songs that I've really enjoyed in the last couple of months and some that are fresh out the oven (excuse the pun!).

Flash - Gareth Emery & Ben Gold
Super melodic!

In The Air (Extended Mix) - Sultan & Ned Shepard, Morgan Page & BT ft Angela McCluskey
I think the artists say it all. Very nice prog.

Glad You Came - The Wanted
Catchy track.

Rabiosa - Shakira ft Pitbull
Shakira kills it in the vid!

Champagne Showers ft Natalia Kills, Sexy & I Know It, All Night Long - LMFAO
Pretty much the usual LMFAO. Their album's pretty much the usual electropop.

Sunrise (Extended Vocal Mix) - Marcel Woods
I love this track!!!

Club Paradise - Drake
This just dropped. Pretty good!

Shine (Original Mix) - Alex Q
Beautiful progression on this one.

Run - The Knux ft KiD CuDi
This has a super catchy chorus!

Cheers (Drink To That) - Rihanna
Drink to that!

Without You - Usher
Produced by Guetta. Nice for a change. :P
No but seriously, Guetta was way repetitive in the middle for me and this was a change for good.

The Adventures of Rain Dance Maggie - Red Hot Chili Peppers

Maximal Crazy - Tiesto
Ok this is a MONSTER track!!

First Of The Year (Equinox) - Skrillex

The End (Original Mix) - Tommy Trash
Funky house..

Lunar (Original Mix) - David Guetta and Afrojack
Another good house track. And again not the repetitive Guetta.

Tha Carter IV - Lil Wayne
Mr. Carter just dropped this album. Its pretty good. Here are some of my faves of the album -
She Will ft Drake
How To Hate ft T-Pain
Mirror ft Bruno Mars
So Special ft John Legend

My Last - Big Sean ft Chris Brown
This has been around a while. Chill track nonetheless.

Ocean Drive - Wale ft Magazeen, Tre & Black Cobain
Reggae feel!

Pumped Up Kicks - Foster The People

Otis - Jay-Z & Kanye West ft Otis Redding
The BIGGEST collab album out now! I have not yet heard the full album. I will get back to you with that.

Set Fire To The Rain - Adele
Adele- do I need to say something?

Rain Over Me - Pitbull ft Marc Anthony
Everyone seems to really like this track. Its alright.

Say Yeah - Jay Sean ft Lupe Fiasco

Oliver Twist - D'Banj
Naija music!! :D. This song went mental on Youtube owing to a dance competition set up by the Mo'Hits crew. Mad beats.

Running (1000 Miles) - T-Pain
Very uptempo. "Gimme back my carrrrrrrr!"

No Regrets - Dappy
One of those songs with deep meaning behind the lyrics.

Far Away - Tyga ft Chris Richardson

Nothing Really Matters - David Guetta ft Will.I.Am
Definitely a nice song for a club. Nothing really matters but the beat.

Sunshine - Avicii & David Guetta
Guetta seems bent on breaking the stereotype. Nice collab.

The Way We See The World - Afrojack, Dimitri Vegas, Like Mike & Nervo
Lineup says a lot. Pretty good track.

Some I forgot...And I don't know how..
Stereo Hearts - Gym Class Heroes ft Adam Levine
"If I could only find the note to make you understand..."

Move Like Jagger - Maroon 5 ft Christina Aguilera
Very fun!

Broadway (Original Mix) - Dj Antoine & Mad Mark

Kate - Arty
Arty is taking the dj world by storm!! And he's just 21. Or is it 22? You get the picture!

Headlines - Drake
Sick flow.

Faking Love (Electro Mix) - Albin Myers
This is pretty chill..

In the words of Porky Pig- That's all folks! :P (For real.)

Stay tuned for some mad stuff and more updates on Sunburn.

Keep it real.
Peace

Confessions of a Sunburnt fan

There were just 7 minutes to go till the Sunburn early bird passes were ready to sell like hot cakes on www.bookmyshow.com.

I was tapping my fingers impatiently at work, T was moments away from having a nervous breakdown because he seems to believe that he has the "worst luck in the world", P sneaked out of his electronics lecture and sat on the katta in his college, while his feet just refused to keep still and A had some Space Cat plugged in. All positions were assumed. We were ready to do some serious clicking.

The minute our laptops showed 12.00pm, there were multiple "YEAAAAHHHs" (Sparta style) heard. What caused us to react this way, you ask? The early bird passes were sold out in 22 minutes last year! You heard right, twenty-two! We had no time to waste. This was war!

Both A and P were the first few to get them. 12.03pm, they smugly called to say. We all heaved a sigh of relief. T, on the other hand was furiously banging his laptop keys because his transaction had failed. Very soon he was running around asking everyone around him for a debit card chanting "FML" with every step. After flashing his signature puppy dog eyes, and still not having a solution, he finally decided to resign to his fate. Waterworks would follow suit any second.

Until A told him that we got him tickets. Everyone at work got a free hug yesterday. Something, that T doesn't exactly like to do.

They're finally sold out now. One step closer to getting Sunburnt!

Sunburn 2011

It's going to be five years since one music festival wove together everyone that seeks solace in that rush of adrenalin. The kind that hits you when the beat on your favourite song drops.

I look back on 2007 and the amount Sunburn has grown in its presence is phenomenal!

As I mentioned in my previous post, Sunburn, the whole experience I had at Sunburn rather changed me in so many ways. Many of which I'm still unraveling. It's like you become a part of this collective consciousness when you go there. You're all there for the same reason - to feel free, to express yourself and to have fun. Sunburn not only appeals to music fanatics. No, Sunburn is now an experience. It's an experience where you're living through something that can change the way you think, feel and perceive the word "experience". That's what makes those three days transport you to another dimension.

I can't even begin to imagine what they have in store for us this year. I keep wondering how onearth are they going to top last year. Heck, I'm still getting over last year!

I know that you- Yes, you have a million thoughts in your head right now. You're re-living what you felt last year and you're anticipating desperately what is to come. Yeah well, we're all in the same boat.

But you could get one step closer to all those moments that are just waiting to be experienced.

Sunburn early bird tickets go live on 25th August, 2011, 12 noon onward.

For more information visit www.sunburn.in

Are you ready to get sunburnt? :)

Sunburn 2010

*Note : This post was due long back. I finally got down to publishing it!

I won’t say that I have been okay. I haven’t. But, writing is something I can never stay away from. The beginning of December really sucked. It got better though. Way better. I finally stopped being a closet photographer and displayed some of my work. It was a really nice experience. It felt so good to see my pictures blown up and framed; the sucky beginning started fading away.
The 27th, 28th and 29th of December were one of the best trips I have taken so far. Those three days were jam packed with experiences I never thought could happen in such a short period of time. There were numerous first timers and sweeter second timers :).
Last year, when A went for Sunburn 2009, he had just entered into the vast realm that is trance music. He observed everything that he could. A different genre, different people all at one venue just with one thing on their mind – to have an epic three days. It changed the way he felt about music. He took an oath then, that no matter what, the following year, he’d make sure we both made it to Sunburn 2010. A year later, we did. I never really had any expectations. I felt exactly the way he did a year back when he went. I had just immersed one leg into the pool of trance and there was no turning back. I would drown myself in that pool! Music has always elevated me to highs beyond imagination. It isn't earthly, this feeling. Trance, however, I could feel reverberating in my soul. As dramatic as it may sound, the sounds I heard, felt like they were coming from within.
A, P and I have always been quite the scientists when it comes to music. We experiment, and we experiment. We search every nook and cranny of awesomeness to find what we do. We still feel like we only end up reaching to a very small circle. A circle that continues to orbit around us and possesses the same kind of hunger that we do when it comes to music. To those that have become a very close part of this blog and continue to help us share our music - Salut. We appreciate you for sharing the same kind of passion that we do. We know you're the kind of person that absolutely has to resort to some sort of bodily movement when a good song plays. We'd love to meet you.
A & I had a fabulous first day with Ajit Pai, Riktam & Bansi (GMS), Richard Durand, Ned Shepard, Sultan and Nadia Ali. Ajit Pai is one hell of a talented DJ. There weren't too many people when he was playing, but that just made me glad cause it gave me a lot more space to dance! His energy level was phenomenal in spite the 4.30 pm sun burning down on him. It was the second time I was hearing him play live and I was a huge fan already. Riktam & Bansi blew my mind. Nothing short of pure genius. We danced so much to their set that the soles of our feet were screaming bloody murder. Which brings me to one of my most important tips for Sunburn 2011 - Soak your feet in a huge bucket of hot water for an hour before you leave for the venue. Believe you me, you will thank me. Richard Durand's remix of "Emergency" by BT had A and me singing it out loud to each other as everything around us seemed to blur into one big giant ball of lights, sounds and joules of energy.
Gasp all you want, but I am not a very big Sultan/Ned Shepard or Nadia Ali fan. Something P has always clucked his tongue at. I decided to watch them live to give him a word by word feedback. They played THREE of P's all time favourite songs (The Island by Pendulum, A Million Stars by BT and Fire In Your New Shoes by Kaskade). He's probably face-palming himself right now as he reads this.

Day 2 was probably the most epic of them all. A and I went earlier still to reserve the perfect spot for Aly & Fila. Apart from a bunch of highly entertaining Egyptians, Aly & Fila did absolutely nothing to us. We kept waiting for the buildup to coil around us and devour every sense, but that moment never came. Superb props for their visuals though. Protoculture followed suit. Dream On, one of A's favourites, had him jumping up and down till we realized who was going to play next.

Two words.

Ma Faiza.

Before her set, we found ourselves a tiny little towel laid out on the sand with an umbrella over it (I wish I could remember the sponsor's name right now cause we were thanking them profusely for providing an inconspicuous little towel that barely covered both our asses. But oh, well.) and rested our sore pairs of feet that had been through a whole lot that day. (Tip : Even an hour of soaking your feet in hot water before you hit the venue is not enough! Your feet will still feel like they're falling off. It feels AWESOME.) We watched all kinds of people pass us by. A guy that was dancing by himself, grabbing fistfuls of sand and dramatically letting go of it, a couple that derived a better high screaming at each other than listening to the music, a group of friends laughing as they clicked pictures of themselves adorned in ridiculously large headgear, shutter shades and glow sticks. The different kind of people kept us amused for a really long time.

Then the music stopped.

She was up.

She entered with her top hat and slayed the crowed with the very first track. Time didn't exist then. Her set was just an experience I won't ever forget. I connected with every track she played. Even though there was a weird guy in front of us doing some major tantric moves.

Sunburn, the whole experience I had at Sunburn rather changed me in so many ways. Many of which I'm still unraveling. It's like you become a part of this collective consciousness when you go there. You're all there for the same reason - to feel free, to express yourself and to have fun. You can feel the freedom reeking in there and it makes you feel like you're in another world for those 3 days. A world where music defines a way of life. A world where you can connect with people you don't even know. A world where you can just be.

I love A for making sure I experienced what I did last year. And for those of you that often think that Sunburn isn't really your "scene", I'm telling you right now. It is. You might not love that particular genre of music, but you most definitely will love the experience.

I hope to see you all this year. It's going to be 10 times better. I can feel it. Drop us your contact details if you're definitely going this year and want to hang out with us. We'll make it epic. Soundthrutime style.

P.S - P, if you don't come this year. You're going to get "accidentally" whacked on your head, put in a bag and you'll wake up in Goa.

:)

World Music Day! Whattup!

So I know it's been a while. The usual shits been up. Work, exams etc. But of course we couldn't let the holiest of holy days (:P) - World Music Day, go by without any sort of acknowledgement. So here's a mega post with a bunch of tracks I've been listening to lately. Old and new both. I haven't written the usual one liner about every track but that doesn't mean they suck. I can be lazy.

Look at that! The World is dancing! LOL! :P

Promises (Myon & Shane 54 Summer Of Love Remix) - Andain
This has got to be one of my favourite tracks in the genre. There's a remix by Gabriel & Dresden that's awesome too.

Ace Hood, Fat Joe, Jadakiss, Bun B, Game & Waka Flocka Flame

Downpipe (Original Club Mix) - D.Ramirez & Mark Knight vs Underworld

No Sleep, The Race, Roll Up, The Thrill (Walking On A Dream) - Wiz Khalifa
Four separate tracks. As you might guess, Wiz is definitely high on my list of rappers.

Till I'm Gone - Tinie Tempah ft Wiz Khalifa
Mad collab. I wish we heard more of Wiz but still mad track. Tinie Tempah is another mad artist.

Turbulence (Original Mix) - Laidback Luke & Steve Aoki ft Lil Jon
Fairly old but insane party track!!

How To Love - Lil Wayne
You'll have to hear this to believe it. Lil Wayne on a soft rock track.

Man Down - Rihanna

Party Rock Anthem - LMFAO ft GoonRock & Laura Bennett
Don't miss this! They got me shufflin'! :P

I'm Fly - Donae'o

This is bliss!

If I Was You (OMG) - Far East Movement ft Snoop Dogg
Hollllerrrrr!

Wonderfooled (Original Mix) - SHato & Paul Rockseek

I Like Chopin - Joonas Hahmo

Heart Is King (Original Mix) - Axwell
Twitter blew up when Axwell performed this track. Endless tweets. It is definitely that good!

Right There - Nicole Scherzinger ft 50 Cent

And in the spirit of World Music Day, here are a few songs from Nigeria and India.

Bhaag DK Bose - Delhi Belly

Ainvayi Ainvayi - Band Baaja Baraat

Character Dheela - Ready

Wizparty - Wizkid

Attention - 2-Shotz & Brymo
Mad track.

Joor Oh (Remix) - JahBless  ft Ice Prince, Reminisce, Durella, Ruggedman & eLDee
A major part of this is in Yoruba. But sick track nonetheless.

This college I went to today had like a jam session in their main area for all the students to celebrate. How would you celebrate World Music Day? Here's my small contribution to it.

On a completely unrelated note, blog walkers piss me off. The shout box is for you guys to post your opinion (which none of you'll do. x/)

Until next time.
Peace

Transport.

Hello, wonderful people.
Things certainly have been changing around here! I have started working too. Hence the absence. I hope Arshad's 100 song post kept you guys satisfied for a while.
I have been scouring a lot of my top sources for r&b and hip hop and it's with utter disappointment that I declare that I have found very few worth mentioning.
I have no idea why only few artists are hitting that sweet spot and soaring charts while the others are just happy with mediocre. I feel like most songs are just functioning like a cop out. I have also realized how some artists are now just beginning to annoy the fuck out of me. Their one tune music and same collaborations are doing nothing for me.
Anyway, the post is supposed to be about the music that has kept me happy whilst I clickety click on the computer all day long and I hope you find yourself swirling in nirvana when you hear them.

49. Welcome To Saint Tropez - Timati ft Kalenna

I know it took forever to get this post done. The blog has been inactive yes, but it's not dead! More music coming SOON.

A fun little fact. A got to meet Ma Faiza for his big 21. A friend of ours orchestrated it all and it was the most unconventional turn of events! Anyway, A and I both had the pleasure of meeting her at her home and getting two autographed CDs (one of which, was her set at Sunburn!). She is an amazing person and inspiration comes our way cause of people like her. If you haven't heard of her, LOOK HER UP. You won't ever forget her.

Until then,
As always,
Much love.
